Salahadin Abdi, MD, PhD, is a tenured Professor of Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine and Chairman, Department of Pain Medicine at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Abdi was Chief of Division of Pain Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Professor and Chief of Pain Medicine at the University of Miami, LM Miller School of Medicine, Miami, FL and the Director of MGH Pain Center at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston.
Dr. Abdi is board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. He is an active member in various national and international medical societies including ASA, NASS, APS, ISMISS, SfN, ASIPP, etc. Dr. Abdi is Editor, Associate Editor and/or Section Editor of several national and international journals such as Pain Physician, Annals of Palliative Medicine, Korean Journal of Pain, Frontiers in Pain Pharmacol & Therap, Frontiers in Psychiatry, Frontiers in Neuroscience, Lasers in Med Science, World Journal of Anesthesiology to name a few; and member of Board of Directors of ASIPP. Dr.Abdi has attended many National and International meetings as an invited Speaker and also served as a Visiting Professor in national and international institutes worldwide. Dr. Abdi co-edited three books and currently working on three additional books. Furthermore, he has authored and/or co-authored more than 200 manuscripts and abstracts, book chapters and review articles. He is a reviewer for journals such as: Clinical Journal of Pain, Pain Physician, Pain Medicine, Frontiers in Psychiatry, Pharmacology & therapeutics, Lasers in Med Science, Anesthesiology, Spine, Current Opinion in Anesthesiology, Emerging Drugs, American journal of geriatric pharmacology, World Scientific Journal, Neuroscience Letters, to name a few. Dr. Abdi’s primary research interests include cancer pain, complex regional pain syndrome, and stem cell and gene therapy for pain. His main clinical interest includes back and neck pain, complex regional pain syndrome, cancer pain, and whiplash injury. Dr Abdi is committed in advancing Pain Medicine globally.
